A great alternate to Jones Road bronzing gel – zero shine – you won’t look like a disco ball
At first, I read how this product was returned frequently. It’s because those who are looking for a coppery shine like Drunk Elephant , Physician’s Formula or E.l.f will be very disappointed. It comes out like squid ink literally, but with a brush it blends very well. My skin tone is Med-Tan neutral and I’m 55. I don’t care for foundation partly because I can never get the right match and then, washing it off, I’m past the 90s makeup face. I am more about the skin glowing after the gym and how I can sustain that throughout the day. It’s like the athletic look, but youthful without the fillers. Overall, it’s self-acceptance in a tube. Gwyneth Paltrow is just the epitome of style and so I am happy to have satisfied my curiosity. I am cheating on Jones Road bronzing gel, but it’s about choices and this is a good one. I wouldn’t apply directly after moisturizing. Go drink your colostrum or whatever self care drink you do daily before you apply this. Put it on a makeup palette tray or dish because it will color the back of your hand once it dries. Where your skin is naturally dark, put less and focus on the areas that are lighter. It gives a beautiful even look to my face without the layers of foundation. It’s a very now look. If you are a Minimalist like me or you travel a lot, you will like this little tube. I like finishing a product. So for me, the price is perfect. If it were at $100 price point plus, I would probably pass. I don’t have serious self image issues at 55. I don’t need to buy large bottles of a product only to buy another smaller bottle to tote it around in. Plus you want the product at its peak before expiration. For my darker skin, you can apply and build. I think with fair skin, go really easy and apply with a light touch with brush or it will dry uneven and look like a spray tan. I would also take my time. It’s not for those who only have two minutes to apply and go. If you do that and at the speed it does dry, you will end up washing your face and starting over. I like seeing the imperfections on my skin. I can see the little spider veins and I’m okay with that. I look healthy and this product achieves that for me. Goodbye foundation woes….bronzing gel is the new IT product. Now to try Gwyneth’s colorful balms. Sorry Jones Road, I will be back! Hope this helps.

Finally, an olive toned bronzing drop that doesn’t make me orange or shiny. Sooo incredible! Feels like nothing on the skin and gives me the most natural tan/glow. On behalf of all olive toned girls, thank you Goop!!

Not as advertised!
I’m returning this ASAP, I don’t know if it was a ‘dud’ but this product came out like black tar and resembled what would be in a dirty diaper when tried to apply the product. I thought maybe’s that’s how it was supposed to look coming out of the tube, but then looked like a brown/black/grey goo on my skin-It was revolting.

Not very pigmented on the skin
It didn’t provide much color. If you use too much it looks like you have dirt on your face. Fortunately it does blend in and looks good on the skin but I wish it was a Lille darker once rubbed into my skin.

Makeup artist of 10 years opinion
This is an interesting product and see why it wouldn’t be for everyone. I would call this a “water bronzer” – it’s a sheer gel but behaves a little funny. I’ve been a pro makeup artist for 10 years and have never used a product quite like it. The product needs to be blended quickly/one area at a time because it almost dries to leave a stain on the skin. It has a strong green undertone as well.It doesn’t work great with foundation base products. This is truly a no makeup-makeup type product – I’m still figuring out exactly how to use in on my skin so that it works for me…. I think it might like it more in the summer time when I naturally have more color but I bought it in the winter hoping to feel a little more bronzed.
