Uriage Gentle Cleansing Syndet Face & Body Wash: I wasn’t familiar with the term “Syndet” and looked it up to see that it’s short for synthetic detergent. Science wasn’t my best subject so I’m not sure what that means as far as using synthetic detergent on my mature somewhat dry skin. My research said syndets are supposed to be more gentle and skin friendly than regular soaps, but it also pointed out that the anionic surfactants in syndets can cause sensitization issues in reactive skins. I tried the Uriage cleanser for a few days about a month ago when the weather was a lot drier, and it was only a few days before my skin felt uncomfortably dry, so I paused using it. I have had sensitivity issues in the past with facial products, but the Uriage cleanser didn’t cause any problems for me beyond the dry skin during the low humidity month.This past week I tried it again when our humidity was more normal, and the results were not as drying, thankfully. I was hoping to find a cleanser that removed both my makeup and my mascara, but I didn’t feel like the Uriage did a very good job removing the harder to budge mascara. It seemed to remove the makeup competently, but because it’s not a year-round cleanser for me, and because I had to add another cleanser to remove the mascara, I won’t be repurchasing it when I run out of this cleanser.

As a runner and dancer, my skin takes a beating from sweat, sun, and constant movement, often leaving it dry and irritated, especially on my legs and arms. For the past 7 weeks, I’ve been using this fragrance-free, soap-free cleanser, lathering it onto my face and body during my post-workout showers, about 4-5 times a week. I apply a small amount to damp skin, massage it in, and rinse it off, usually after a long run or dance session.This cleanser is creamy, its gentle foam washes away sweat and grime without stripping my skin’s moisture, leaving my legs and arms feeling soft rather than tight or itchy. After intense workouts, my face stays calm with no redness, which is a big win since I’m prone to flare-ups from heat and friction. Pump dispenser is broken.
Pump arrived broken. Not sure if it was the delivery but I do hope that future generations of this product include a stronger dispenser. I was able to unscrew the pump and pour out some product, but without the nozzle, it makes it very difficult to apply to the face. For the body, it didn’t matter as much since you’d need a larger amount anyway.the product itself is gentle and unscented, which is great for those with sensitive skin. I reach for this when my skin feels like it needs to recover or reset. I prefer using this as a body wash as my face gets a little tight when used as a facial cleanser. I do have oily skin, so it is not as noticeable when my face is extra oily.

Gentle Enough for Everyday Use
This is a nice gentle face cleanser. I’m outside a lot so my face gets sweaty. I love how it feels after cleansing but don’t like the tightness and dryness that most cleansers leave. This cleanser however leaves my skin feeling fresh and supple. So, now I’m not concerned with daily cleansing.
