We (Hannah and Tom) are a couple that went through the pain of having to deal with the US crib mattress-buying process and immediately knew something had to change. We could choose affordable or healthy, but never both at once!
Knowing other parents in America must have been facing the same dilemma, we set off on a mission to make healthy crib mattresses accessible to all parents, not just the richest ones.

After trying another well-known organic crib mattress that felt too firm, I was on the hunt for something safer and more comfortable—especially since I often end up sleeping on it with my toddler. This KATU mattress has been exactly what we needed. It’s noticeably softer and more cushioned thanks to the natural latex and absence of springs. It fits perfectly in our crib and with our sheets. It has a nice thickness to it.There’s no chemical odor, which was a big concern for me, and the materials feel high-quality and thoughtfully made. Where is the free mattress protector?
The mattress is great. Best I’ve tried with my 3rd baby. The Amazon experience has been a nightmare though. Will write a new review if I get a response from the seller on how great this mattress is.The first time I ordered it, it came folded in half inside the box with the firm infant side on the inside of the fold. It was ruined so I returned it. The second came in an appropriate box.Both times it did not come with the free mattress protector. If I get one, I would change my review to 5 stars but this mattress is expensive so I don’t want to spend an additional $50-100 on organic protector when it was said to be included.

Meh. Good enough to not return but I’m not over the moon
3-4 star… it feels organic. Soft and good quality. It’s heavy though. And its smell never fully lifted for us. I’d probably buy a washable one over this one if I could do it all over again.

We’ve been using this mattress for about five months and really love it. The natural materials give us peace of mind, and our baby sleeps great on it. It’s a bit heavy and thinner than regular mattresses, but we like how it feels and hope it lasts a long time.

GOL certified. Wool, coconut, latex. I love it all!
This is a step up from my first eco latex crib mattress. First and most importantly, it’s GOLS certified. That means it was grown without pesticides, harvested and processed in a neutral/sustainable way and is the lowest likely to off gas anything at all. The mattress is mostly a coconut coir pad (75%), with natural rubber latex (at 25%). There is still a high amount of structure on both sides, exactly as a crib should have. It’s comfortable.The mattress is also wrapped on the interior with 100% organic wool (for natural fire protection), then covered with a 100% organic cotton cover all around. This is a ton nicer than my previous one. My older, similarly priced one was covered in a much lesser quality cotton, no wool, no certification, no coconut (springs instead). The bed I sleep in (also latex) has this same organic material for the cover. The manufacturer took great care in using quality materials.I haven’t had any complaints whatsoever with this. I’m tickled by the quality of this mattress. It does sound like if there’s any problem at all, that the manufacturer stands behind their product and welcomes all inquires for help.
